NEW DAIRY FACTORY

PROPOSAL AT TAUPIRI A meeting of about 50 suppliers of tho New Zealand Dairy Association met at Taupiri to consider a proposal to ei'ect a new butter factory at Taupiri. Tho chairman, Mr. W. Young, explained the purpose of the meeting, after which a letter from Mr. C. J. Parlane, tho company’s manager at Hamilton, was read. Tho letter stated that a perusal of tho records of the Ngaruawahia factory. lately destroyed by fire, showed that of tho total amount of butter-fat supplied to the Ngaruawahia factory last year, 1,32:1,3731b had been supplied from tlio Ngaruawahia side of the Waikato River, and 2,285,3351 b from the Taupiri side of the river. Tho cartage of cream from Taupiri had involved an expenditure of £551. This was considered to be a very unsatisfactory state of affairs. A resolution was passed unanimously that tho shareholders considered that facilities for a dairy factory at Taupiri compared favourably with those of ■my other sito in the district. This resolution is to be forwarded to the directors of the dairy company. A deputation of three, Messrs. F. R. < 'atley, ,G. Walter and W. Henry, was appointed to interview the general manager to put the whole position before him.
