Smith, head of the permanent way department. The injured man, who was rushed to hospital by the St. John Ambulance, is suffering from severe concussion of the brain, and head inj juries. Murray, a member of the City Couni oil, was injured through being struck jby a motor-car at the corner of Karangahape Board 2nd Queen Street about 2.45 yesterday afternoon. Her ‘ injuries include cuts on her head and a broken ankle. Mrs. Murray was crossing from the footpath to a safety zone. Mr. Vernon C. Hollis, who was driving toward j the city, failed to see her until too | late. Mrs. Murray was taken to her . home in Shelly Beach Road. Fonsonby, where medical attention was 1 given. STRUCK BY MOTOR-CAR LITTLE GIRL IN HOSPITAL A young girl, Joan Cates. was knocked down by a motor-car as she stepped from a bus near the Strand. St. Heliers Bay, on Saturday afternoon. One wheel of the vehicle passed over her. She is suffering from abdominal injuries and a fractured arm. but her condition is reported to be j improving. News of the mishap was received by the St. John Ambulance at 12.15 p.m.. and half an hour later the little I girl was in the Auckland Hospital. 1 The ambulance, driven by Mr. S. E. Langstone, had made a fast trip over the IS-mile journey. The injured child, who is eight years old. -lives with her parents in Wailing Street. St. Heliers Bay.
