ODDFELLOWS’ BALL

OHAKUNE FUNCTION EFFECTIVE DECORATIONS The Majestic Theatre, Ohakune Junction, was a scene of revelry last week, the occasion being the Oddfellows’ ball, which proved a great success. The members of the lodge had worked hard to make the ball a memorable one, and the result was very gratifying. Visitors from the Taihape and Raetihi Lodges were present, "and a large gathering from all parts of the district danced to the music of Wood lock’s orchestra. The hall was beautifully decorated with multi-coloured streamers and tree-ferns, while over the stage the lodge insignia, “M.U., 1.0.0. F.,” blazed forth in many-coloured lights. The wearing of the regalia by the Oddfellows added to the colour and festivity of the scene. The supper rooms were decorated with coloured streamers, in shades of lemon, orange, mauve and black, with Chinese lanterns and silver tinsel intermingled. Spring flowers in coloured vases were arranged on the supper tables. Among the novelty dances the balloon dance proved a very amusing and popular one. the winners being Miss Joan Goldfinch and partner; Monte Carlo, Miss J. Goldfinch and Mr. G. Goldfinch: spot waltz, Mr. J. Toland and partner. Dancing was kept up until an early hour, and altogether the function was a most successful one.
