Whakatane Club Holds Bright. Event MANY VISITORS ATTEND There were more than 200 guests at the annual ball held under the auspices of the Whakatane Golf Club, visitors being present from Opotiki and Te Puke. Tli© interior of the hall was decor- j ated with streamers, flag's, and greenery, and the floor was in splendid danc- j ing order. The supper tables were j beautifully decorated with bulbs, violets, and other seasonable flowers, and presented a very pleasing effect. Included among those present were:— Mrs. A. G. SUCCESSFUL BAZAARS FUNDS FOR OTAHUHU SCHOOL The funds of the Otahuhu district school dental clinic and grounds improvement fund have benefited considerably as the result of a series of bazaars held by the various classes of the school. The Standard VI. function resulted in £27 10s 8d being added to the combined funds. The primers’ effort totalled approximately £3B. The third of the series was held under the auspices of Standard 11., when the proceeds exceeded £24. The organisation was in the hands of Misses Jones and Johnstone, and the members of the committee were:-—Mrs. V. Morrin, convener, Mesdhmes Cox, Strid, Graham, Clark, Colledge, Burman, Cantwell, Capp, Currie and Bagnall. The stalls were in charge of Mesdames Clark, Bailey and Simons, cake stall; Mrs. College and Miss Jones, sweets stall; Mesdames Graham and Cantwell, produce stall: Mesdames Currie and Cox, fancy goods; Mesdames Morrin, Strid and Burman, afternoon tea; and Miss Johnston, magic cave. The latest function was held by Standard IV. last week, when a substantial donation was made to the funds already collected. An enthusiastic committee ably supported the teachers, Miss White and Mr. Fenton, in their efforts. The stalls were in charge of Mesdames McManus, Milligan, Elliott and V. Morrin, cake stall; Mesdames Downey and Christini, fancy goods; Mesdames Allanson, Sawyer, Sinclair, McPeteridge, sweet stall; Mesdames Marshall, Prime and Dwyer, produce stall; Miss Elsie Petrie, fish pond; Mesdames 11. Bailey and Petrie, afternoon tea.
