TAURANGA NEWS
Mr. A. J. Merrielees presided over a fair attendance at the annual meeting of the Tauranga Defence Rifle Club on Tuesday evening. The report and balance sheet disclosed an active season. The shoots had been regular and well supported by the members. Assets are £22 2s lOd, liabilities nil. Membership is 33, an increase of 5. The election of officers resulted: Patron, Mr. C. E. Macmillan. M.P.; vice-patron, Lieut.-Colonel Wilson; president, Mr. A. J. Merrielees; secretary and treasurer, Mr. D. Johnson; committee Messrs. A. Carswell, F. Parmwell, H. Ward, H. Oliver H. Lowe, P. T. Mclntosh L. R. Wilkinson; auditor, L. R. Wilkinson. Prizes won during the season were presented, the champion belt going to Rifleman B. Johnson.
At a public meeting this evening called to elect a new Racecourse Domain Board, the following were elected: Messrs. 11. A. Sharp, J. G. Green, W. J. Baigent, J. Darragh, D. Ivory, B. Newsham, W. Goulding. This board remains in office for the next five years.
