STATE OF EDEN PARK
RUGBY UNION OPTIMISTIC The rather startling suggestion that Eden Park be abandoned for the rest of the season was not'favourably received by the Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby Union last evening. ITR G. NICHOLSON, whose suggv stion it was, said that he had never before seen the park in such a bad state. He would like to know whether the committee intended playing on it again this season and to test the feeling of members would move that the Auckland v. Waikato match should be played at the Showgrounds next Saturday. The secretary assured the meeting that, according to the groundsman's report, the park would be in good order by Saturday if the weather continued to be reasonably good. In answer to the chairman. Mr. H. Frost, Mr. Nicholson said that lio had no wish to press his motion, which lapsed for want of a seconder. A long discussion follow* <1 on the possibility of improving the ground so that it would stand up better to wet weather play.
