ENGLAND SHOULD PAY
OTAGO’S VIEW OF CRICKET TOUR
£375 ASKED FOR MATCH Press Association DUNEDIN, Today. When the New Zealand Cricket Council’s letter' offering a match to Otago against the English team for a guarantee of £375 came before the Otago Association, the opinion was expressed that the council was asking too much. One speaker remarked that the New Zealand Council had undertaken a big risk. The English Association should finance' its own team on tours to New Zealand. The secretary stated that Otago would have to take a £6OO gate to cover expenses. The biggest gate ever taken was £450. It was decided to reply that Otago was considering the offer. A suggestion was made that the citizens be asked to make a guarantee toward the team’s visit to Dunedin.
