FAILURES DOWN BY ONE

BANKRUPTCY FIGURES So far this year, bankruptcies in the Auckland district show a decrease of one compared with those of last year. In seven months in 1929 there have been SO bankruptcies. March was the busiest month in the official assignee’s offices, for 20 cases were investigated. There were 12 cases in May and again in July. Sixteen bankruptcies in May contributed largely to the 81 cases for the seven months last year. February had 15 and, in each of two months, March and July. 14 cases were examined. Neither year approaches 1927 in frequency in bankruptcies. In seven months two years ago 135 cases came to the assignee’s office. This was an exceptionally large number, in spite of the fact that the bankruptcy district was then larger than it is now.
