MAORI RUGBY

PRINCE OF WALES’ CUP STRUGGLE WESTERNERS’ CHALLENGE Fielding a strong team, the TaiHauauru, or South-Western Maoris, are making a determined effort to wrest the Prince of Wales Cup for native Rugby football competition from the Tai-Tokerau, or Northern, holders at Eden Park this afternoon. Four districts take part in the annual competition for the cup, which was won by the Northern team last year after a spirited struggle. Representatives of the main tribes of the North Island are in both teams, and the game is of great interest, because the sides include prominent provincial and international players.
