NEW DENTAL CLINIC

ONEHUNGA SCHOOL’S ADDITION / OPENED THIS AFTERNOON This afternoon. Mr. W. J. Jordan M.P. for Manukau, officially opened the new dental clinic at the Onehunga school. Three months ago tenders were called for the erection of the building, and Mr. H. R. Strong, chairman of the Onehunga I>ental Clinic Committee, said that the Education Board had promised £2 for every £1 raised by the four schools concerned—Onehunga, Te Papapa, and two at Mangere. The schools had found £ll4 toward the £342 which the building would cost, and already children had been treated, 304 operations having taken place in one month. The building comprises a surgery, a waiting room, and a room for two nurses. The appliances furnished by the Division of Dental Hygiene of the department of Health will greatly facilitate the work, and the nurses are attending to all children in the four schools up to the fourth standard. The only charge on the schools for the future will be for lighting and heating, and for the general maintenance of the rooms.
