GOOD SAVE EFFECTED AT GLASSWORKS BLAZE NEAR TIMBER YARD (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) Reed. 9 a.m. SYDNEY, Today. Damage estimated at £6,000 was done by fire sweeping through a large portion of the Silvarite Glass Company’s premises at Camperdown. At one stage it seemed likely that a whole block would be wiped out, but the firemen effected a good save. A fireman was overcome by the fumes while in the blazing rmilding and was dragged to safety by his mates. He was subsequently sent to hospital. Several others were also affected. The police are inquiring into a mysterious lire which broke out in premises adjacent to Holliborne’s timber yards at Burwood, when a garage and two cars were destroyed, but a large stack of timber was saved through being saturated with water.
