PARLIAMENT EXCITED
LORD LLOYD'S DIFFERENCES WITH SIR AUSTEN “WARSHIPS, NOT DIPLOMACY” (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) (United Service} LONDON, Thursday. Although members of Parliament are excited about Lord Lloyd’s resignation from his post as High Commissioner in Egypt, it is understood that it does not come as a complete surprise to those who are well informed on the subject. There have been rumours for some time that Lord Lloyd has not been seeing eye to eye with Whitehall. It is understood that the resignation of the High Commissioner was not the result of a disagreement with the new Government on a specific point, but followed upon a perusal of the correspondence between Lord Lloyd and the Conservative Government. In his resignation letter to the Foreign Secretary Lord Lloyd said: “I have every hope and desire to serve the new administration; but I have reluctantly reached the conclusion that my views are not likely to be in sufficient harmony; with jours to en-
