U.F.A.’S SOUND FILM PRODUCTION Sound-film fever, which has recently reached Germany, and which* as in ather countries, has produced an uncomfortable situation in the trade there, has been allayed by the recently closed agreement between U.F.A. and Klangfilm. The situation throughout Germany and Central Europe is now milch clearer. . . F; F A has been led to this decision bv a. ’desire to retain the position it has established with such labour in the markets of the world. The new sound studio is already under eon3fraction beside the old one at Mubabelsberg. This studio will rank among the best and most, modern in the world, and will be fitted out with all technical appliances of the_ new film science. In addition, all U.F.A. theatres will be wired. U.F.A. will work in the closest co-operation with Klanglilm, Siemens, and the A.E.G. on all technical questions connected with sound flint, so that the best technical advice obtainable in Germany is assured. The entire U.F.A. sound-fllm production will bo known under the collective title of -Ufatone.” The Ufatone process, which U.F.A. possesses through its contract with Kiangfllm. can be utilised for tbe production of 100 per cent, talkies, or the synchronisation of silent films. All U.F.A. supers will be made as 100 per cent, sound films, and the others will also contain sound effects and music. For every U.F.A. film made, independent silent versions will be produced.
