RIALTO AND REGENT, EPSOM
“THE HOUSE OF HORROR” Grotesque human characters, eerie settings, strange shadows, seemingly supernatural things and dark human plots—these are a few of the ingredients of a spine-tingling picture now playing at the Rialto and Regent, Epsom, Theatres. “The House of Horror” is its title, and it is a First National attraction with a cast of real troupers, headed by Louise Fazenda, Chester Conklin and Thelma Todd. Benjamin Christensen, a specialist in mystery pictures, directed it. Incidentally, “The House of Horror” is packed with that ludicrous human comedy and romantic thrills of a strange love affair which go so well with the hysterical emotions that tense mystery drama evoke. “Wolves of the City,” the second feature, is an exciting drama of a young millionaire’s recovery of a famous art treasure. and William Cody are the stars. Five hundred Chinese “extras” were used by Paramount in me a 11-talking film version of the famous Sax Rohmer mystery story, “The Mysterious Dr. Fu Manchu.”
