LOCAL BODY POWERS
VIEWS OF NEW LYNN TOWN BOARD ARREARS AT GLEN EDEN Considering the proposals indicate a possible curtailment of the powers of local authorities, the New Lynn Town Board will forward its opinion on the subject of the Metropolitan TownPlanning Committee to the City Council. This was decided at Monday’s meeting, Mr. G. Lawson, Deputy-Mayor, presiding. A letter was received from the Railways Department in respect to the council’s request that the 4.5 p.m. Helensville train should stop daily at New Lynn. The department stated that tlie speeding up of this train was under consideration, and therefore could not accede to the request. The council resolved to reply pointing out that as the train often stopped for water two or three days a week and was scheduled to stop on Saturdays, the time occupied on the journey to Helensville w'ould not be materially affected if the request was granted. MEETING AT GLEN EDEN
At a meeting of the Glen Eden Town Board held on Monday, Mr. W. E. Martin presiding, the town clerk was instructed to place all unpaid rates in the hands of the board’s solicitor. It was decided to request the Waitemata Powed Board to install all-night lighting on Great North and West Coast Roads. The Works Committee reported that work on West Coast Road was nearly completed, and that side roads would be now attended to.
