THE suggestion made to the A Auckland Trotting Club by Mr. H. Sherwin to name the various events on the card for the benefit meeting after devastated towns and districts, was accepted as a happy one by the committee, which put the idea into practice, thus giving the fixture the real touch of the earthquake-stricken areas. This will tend to further remind all followers of thve popu•ar pastime of the main object of the function—to raise funds to assist the distressed inhabitants of the localities mentioned.
