Roe, of the firm which manufactures Avro airplanes, today expressed the opinion that achievement in aviation was only beginning. “Within 50 years," he said, “a. flight from Britain to Australia in less than 24 hours will be commonplace. “Machines will travel at tremendous speeds in the upper atmosphere. All will fly at an altitude which airplanes today can only reach with dlfliculty. In the future airplanes will travel like rockets at a rate of 400 -miles an hour. “Already machines are being de.signeci which will reach the maximum of their power at 25,000 feet.
