FAMILY ESCAPES FIRE
AWAKENED BY BARKING DOGS OUTBREAK AT MOUNT ROSKILL Awakened by the continuous barking of his dogs late on Sunday night, Mr. Ernest Vickers, of Halsey Drive, Mount Roskill, get out of bed and went out to investigate. He found that the roof of his house was burning vigorously. He hurried back into the house and awakened Mrs. Vickers and their child. The three escaped safely, but did not have time to carry with them any clothing other than the night attire which they were wearing. The flames burned so fiercely that nothing could be saved, and the Whole build—ing and all the furniture were destroyed. The house, which was one of four rooms, was insured for £IOO in the South British Company, and the furniture was covered by £l5O in the same omce. ,ni
