Comedian of the day. but. his first real success came when he returned to Paris to appear at the Eldorado. Chevalier‘s succeSS here took him to 3 nm F‘nlies Bergere, where he met Mistinguett, w h o s e dancing partner he became. The War interruptd his career. however. He was wounded, taken prisoner, and after a. 26-months' im—prisonment at Alton Grabow, escaped. Ret ur n i n g to Paris after the war. the famous star made his debut at the Casino de Paris.
