Palmerston North, discovered two 1 men in her room investigating the contents of a hand-bag. ' Seizing one man. the young woman ‘called for help. The intruder is :11» ieged to have struck her with his elec‘tric torch and dashed away with the son of the proprietor in pursuit. The chase was futile, the intruder showing a good turn of speed, while the pursuer was hampered by heavy garments. The other man jumped through a. window and made a good escape. Both men are stated to have entered the premises by the front door in a most casual manner.
