SLAVERY COMMISSION
REVIVAL URGED 0N BRITISH FOREIGN SECRETARY TRAFFIC IN NEAR EAST Bl'i/i-Sh Official W'irclsss Reed. 11 21.131. RUGBY, Friday. The Foreign Secretary, Mr. Arthur Henderson. today received a deputation from the Anti-slavery and Aborigines’ Protection Society. The deputation suggested that the Temporary Slavery Commission should be revived by a decision of the next League Assembly. and that when it has been revived documents in the possession of the British Government concerning slavery in Abyssinia, con» cerning raids from Abyssinia into Bri—tish territory. Lraflic across the Red Sea. etc. should be sent in by the British Government to the commission.
in his reply. the Foreign Secretary assured the deputation of the personal sympathy of himself and the Prime Minister. and promised that in consultation with the departments concerned. he would give favourable consideration to the proposal which they had made concerning a revival of the Temporary Slavery Commission.
