OTAHUHU ORPHANS’ CLUB

A large and enthusiastic meeting of members of the Otahuhu Orphans Club on Tuesday evening was presided over by vice-president Bro. \V. 11. Payne. The official visitors were President Bro. W. K. Francis and secretary Bro. Anderson and executive officers of the Papakura Orphans’ Club. Among the Suests was Bro. Louis Lewis, a life member of the Takapuna Orphans’ Club, and founder of that club, and a past president of the Auckland Orphans’ Club. The programme opened with an overture by the club’s orchestra, under the baton of Bro. Edwin Parker. Other contributors were:—Bro. Dunn, vocal solo; Bro. Geo. Queens, vocal solo; Bro. Joss, vocal solo; Bro. Rainger, humorous item; Bro. Mellor, vocal solo; Bro. Rex Yates, in something serious; Bro. Dunn, vocal solo; Bro. Norman Tate, “The Joy King.” The chairman for the next evening will be Bro. Frank Pheasant.
