WAIHI PRESENTATION
FAREWELL TO BANK MANAGER
Residents met in the Waihi Borough Chambers on Tuesday afternoon to pay tribute to Mr. R. S. Baker, manager of the "Waihi branch of the Bank of New Zealand, who is leaving’ Waihi shortly to take up a similar position at Whakatane. In the unavoidable absence of the Mayor, the chair was taken by Mr. •T. B. Beeche, president of the Waihi Chamber of Commerce. On behalf of those present, Mr. Beeche expressed regret at losing Such an efficient bank manager and able citizen as Mr. Baker. Mr. L. G. Roberts and Mr. T. Tierrey. on behalf of the district farmers, supported Mr. Beeche s remarks.
Mr. Baker was presented with a solid leathei* suitcase anil travelling rug. and Mrs. Baker with a set of wedgwood ware. Mr. Baker’s successor is Mr. Payze, of Huntly.
