BOARD OR BOROUGH?

GREEN LANE PROGRESSIVE ASSOCIATION’S MOVE ONE TREE HILL AFFAIRS A move toward the formation of a borough to take the place of the present board was suggested by a letter received at a meeting of the One Tree Hill Road Board last evening from the Green Lane Progressive Association. rpHE letter requested the use of the fire station next week for the purpose of holding a meeting to discuss the proposed forming of a borough and asking Mr. R. G. Clark, a member of the board, to address the meeting. The meeting would also discuss the retaining of the corner of the Great South Road and Panmure Road for a reserve, and to arrange suitable recognition of the work of the fire brigade. A member pointed out that the board had recognised the work of the brigade. It was decided to give permission. A letter from the chief postmaster stating that he was willing to recommend the erection of a posting-box at the corner of Manukau Road and Hayden Avenue instead of the corner of Elgar Street and Manukau Road was received. The board decided to accept the offer. On the recommendation of Mr. H. B. Dobbie it was decided to rename Taou Road “Konini Road,” and Ngaoho Road “Haronui Road.”

The building Inspector reported that during the past fortnight 11 permits for the erection of dwellings and other buildings to the total value of £3,890 had been issued.
