No Work on Schools The Otago Education Board decided to send a wire to the Minister of Education that, if giants for new buildings ‘i*e not received this month, it would be necessary to reduce the board’s workmen.—P.A. Accountant’s Theft Stanley Jesse Hart, aged 47. accountant. pleaded guilty today at Wanganui to the theft of £784 9s Sd from the Wanganui Furnishing Company during the period of a year and 10 months up to June 24, during which period he was employed by the company. He wos committed to the Supreme Court at Wellington for sentence.—P.A. Fraud Charge Charged with obtaining goods and money to the extent of £ 5 from Harry Cropley at Auckland on July 12, Pereival Rhys Wingrove. aged 39. was remanded at the Police Court this morning until Thursday. Chief-Detective Hammond said that there were further charges pending. Bail was allowed in one surety of £lou. Bullet Not Removed The condition of Mr. Edward Hammond. who was shot in the back by an unknown man on Tuesday evening in Fhristchurch, is reported to be unchanged. Doctors are unable to extract the bullet. The police believe that a young man fired the shot, and that he had a companion waiting outside. An examination of finger-prints is being made, and will probably disclose whether the criminal is already known to the police.
