AMERICANS TO BUILD 56,000TONNERS (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 9 a.m. BOSTON, Wednesday. Mr. Joseph Sheedy, president of the United States Shipping Lines, has announced that the construction of two new liners will commence early in 1930.

They will be modelled after the Leviathan, but both will be larger. The new vessels are expected to be completed within three years. They will be 956 feet long, and will have a displacement of 56,000 tons. They will accommodate 4,000 passengers. Mr. Sheedy stated that the company’s policy will be to add one ship yearly to the fleet.
