PASSED LIKE DERELICT

ISLANDERS’ LAST SIGHT OF KOBENHAVN

NO SIGN OF LIFE ABOARD (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 10.8 a.m. CAPETOWN, Wed. The search vessel Mexico has arrived with no definite news of the missing Danish barque Ivobenhavn. Her captain confirms the story from the steamer Halesius that the Kobeuhavn passed Tristan da Cunha on January 21. The islanders give a story reminiscent to that of the Marie Celeste. One topsail and one jib were set as she passed. The other sails were furled.

There was no sign of life aboard. The ship appeared to be drifting on the rocks, then a current swung her around. She appeared to be in good condition.
