HOSPITAL BOARD TO HOLD SPECIAL MEETING! I WORK OF NURSING STAFF Marked “confidential” and reserved carefully for members only, the report of the lady superintendent dealing with the working conditions of nurses at the Auckland Hospital came before the board at its meeting yesterday. On the motion of Mr. W. Wallace, chairman, it was decided to consider this at a special meeting at the hospital on Tuesday evening next. The chairman announced that 12 ward maids had been engaged, and were proving of considerable assistance. Dr. S. A. Stride was appointed by the board to relieve Dr. A. N. AlcKelvey of all out patients except those suspected to be suffering from tuberculosis. A request from Surfdale for a firstaid outfit was referred to the Finance Committee. It was decided to contribute £IOO to the St. John Ambulance. The Finance Committee reported the purchase of a new motor-car for members at a cost of £S2O. It was decided to pay the annual account — £ll7 —to the Hospital Boards’ Association.
