WEST COAST DISASTER

LECTURE BY M.P. ON TERRORS OF EARTHQUAKE The story of the “Disaster on the West Coast” will be given by Mr. G. C. Black, M.P. for Motueka, at the Town Hall at 8 o’clock this evening. Mr. Black was in Motueka when the first big shock occurred, and was present during the whole of the disaster. He spent 18 days in the areas afflicted by the earthquakes, and he has a thrilling story to tell of the terrifying experiences through which the district went, and of the heroism of the settlers and helpers. The story will be illustrated by lantern slides which depict the terrible calamity in all its awfulness. A collection will be taken up. and the whole of the proceeds will go to the central fund to assist in the rehabilitation of the earthquake zone. 1
