GARAGE GOSSIP

The membership of the A.A.A.. now exceeds 12,000. “Where is the car I left parked here?”, “X can only tell where part of it is.” "Quick, tell me!” “A copper came by and took the number.” Members of the A.A.A. are Invited to communicate with the secretary if they are willing to provide cars for an outing for the crew of the French cruiser Tourville. * * * Traffic Constable: “Get a move on, miss; you’re causing an obstruction.” Novice: “I’m sorry, but the thing’s stopped and I’ve got my handbooks mixed up. Instead of ‘Faults and How to Find Them,’ I’ve brought out ‘Wool Rug-nmking Made Easy’.” A motorist who owns one of those sma.il cars which everybody makes jokes about was recounting an experience to a friend. “I had a bit of luck coming up from Nowra the other day.” he said. “I ran into a trap.” “Is that so,” said his so-called friend gravely. “Was there any cheese in it?” WASTING MONEY Due to bad handling, many cars are made to look old prematurely. The cause is ill-treatment by owners, and the result is that the natural depreciation of the car is magnified enormously. Why waste money through carelessness? It is a waste to damage side curtains by leaving them lying loose in the rear compartment, often also with loose luggage resting upon them, and it is a waste to destroy your car by slamming the doors. Every time you slam a door you weaken the locks, hinges and door supports, and hasten the cracking of the finish on the adjoining panels.

A unique sales campaign has been inaugurated by Guy O. Simons, president of the firm of Simons, Stewart and Foy, Chrysler distributors in New York. In an educational campaign known as the “Learn the Difference Month” floor demonstrations showing the actual difference between Chrysler and other makes of cars will be followed by road demonstrations and tests. Two cars are to be given away at the end of the campaign.
