PIGEON SHOOTS
CONTEST AT HASTINGS Press Association NAPIER, Monday. The New Zealand gun championship meeting was continued today at Longlands, Hastings. under improved weather conditions. Two handicap matches were fired. Competition was keen and eager. In the first match, a ten-bird live pigeon event, for a stake of £ 100, the following eight shooters returned possibles: —R. Arnst (Taitapu), R. Buick (Masterton), A. Stead (Awanui), I. Lomas (Auckland), H. Clinch (Whangarei), E. Ransdell (Invercargill), H. J. McDonald (Hastings), and O. Nelson (Hastings). The second match was a ten-bird open sparrow handicap, two misses out, for a stake of £SO. The following four competitors of 35 tied and divided the money:—H. Clinch, M. Pratt, W. Nichol and R. Arnst, all with possibles.
