At Dixieland

The excellent dancing floor at Dixie- j land was again crowded on Saturday ; evening when many' enthusiastic j dancers motored out to the cabaret. j The Famous Dixieland Dance Band ! was in good form, and its programme j of bright melodies was dispensed to an ! appreciative crowd. Once again the "Dixieland Boys” de- j monstrated their popularity, rounds of * applause rewarding their entertaining I antics. AMONG THOSE PRESENT Airs. Humphrey' Duder wore a peach coloured frock ot georgette and lace. Mrs. Eldon Is a pier was in a rose du barri chiffon gown. Airs. B. Kissens pastel tinted gown ! was embroidered in gold and chartreuse ; green. Airs. Lysnar wore a pretty frock of leaf green georgette. Airs. Athol Alills had chosen a becom- : ing gown of phlox pink satin and ] georgette. Amethyst chiffon embroidered with ! softest rose and green shaded beads was : worn by Airs. T. Davies. Airs. R. Ash had chosen an embossed satin gown of marigold colour. Airs. H. Hodgson was in peach tinted georgette and lace. Airs. Hudson’s gold lame gown was relieved with blue. Airs. S. AI. Aliss Janet Clarkson's smart gown was of black georgette and pastel-tinted lace. Aliss Maida Aiaclndoe had pinned a spray' of flowers to the shoulder of her camellia pink georgette frock. Aliss Leslie Waller's bouffant gown of tulle and lace was of bronze gold tonings. Aliss Rosemary Waller wore her becoming frock of absinthe green georMiss Alison Laery had chosen ivory taffeta with flared frills of uneven length. Aliss Xell Batey’s pretty gown was of turquoise blue georgette and tulle over A trail of pink roses adorned the corsage of the forest green chenille georgette gown worn by Aliss Olga Jackson. Aliss Tinkerbell Jackson wore a distinctive model frock of georgette in shades of lupin blue, relieved with a diamente buckle. BLUE GEORGETTE GOWN A spray of yellow cowslips was worn on the shoulder of her blue georgette gown by Aliss Rose Kennedy'. Aliss D. Ryan wore an uneven length , frock of buttercup yellow georgette with smartly tucked waistline. 1 ATiss Audrey Lawrence had chosen cloth of silver and nile green georgette. Aliss Abdullah's satin gown was richly' 3 embroidered with, gold lace and silver beads. 1 Atiss Monk was in a kingfisher blue chiffon grown. Aliss Henley had chosen palest pink . chiffon. Aliss W. Alasou’s pink chiffon frock was embroidered with rose and silver beads. Aliss Oliver wore a cuban orange ring velvet gown banded with gold tissue. Aliss A. Richardson was in an era- 3 bossed georgette gown of deep ciel blue. Aliss Alarjorie Woolley had chosen 1 ivory satin beaute, the uneven hemline being defined with leaf green. Aliss B. Endean wore nile green satin i with bouffant skirt of tulle. Aliss S. Aleiklejohn wore a rose and < silver sequined gown. Aliss Vera Dewing was in cherry' chen- < ille spotted net and black satin beaute.

DANCE AT KAIKOHE

FOR EARTHQUAKE RELIEF A highly successful dance, organised by a committee of women headed by Airs. Worthington, took place on Saturday at Ivaikohe, in aid of the earthquake sufferers. The spacious floor was packed with enthusiastic dancers. Xovelty dances and competitions were held during the evening, and helped to swell the funds. The net proceeds were £2O, and this sum has been paid into the Town Board’s list.

A SURPRISE PARTY

BRIDE-ELECT HONOURED A number of friends of Aliss Elsie Blake paid a surprise visit to her at her residence, Flat Bush, on Thursday afternoon, and in honour of her approaching marriage, Airs. Corson presented her with a dainty afternoon teaset on behalf of her friends. Miss Blake expressed her gratitude. During the afternoon a number of musical items were given by' Miss Ivy Blake and some of the visitors. Among those present were Alesdames Blake, W. Ormiston, T. Ormiston, Clayton, Roderwald, Corson, S. Stonex, Knapping, McCarthy', Christensen, Alisses Ivy Blake, Ettie Blake, Smith, Knapping, Baverstock (2), Roderwald, Hope-Johnstone, Fairweather.

GOLDEN WEDDING

MR. AND MRS. C. H. GREENHEAD The golden wedding of Air. and Airs. C. H. Greenhead, of Waiuku, will’ be celebrated tomorrow. Air. Greenhead, who was born in ! London, went to Australia at the age of 18 and married Aliss Eliza Anne Holmes, of Darling Downs in 1879. They came to New Zealand in 1884 and went to live at Waiuku, remaining there ever since. There is a family of six daughters and one son.
