ABUSED DETECTIVE
MAN ARRESTED ON FRAUD CHARGE UNDER FALSE COLOURS The fact that he had used abusive language to Detective O'Sullivan was taken into account when George Leach was arrested on a charge of fraud. T EACH, aged 29, was charged at the Police Court this morning with being found drunk in Federal Street, and using obscene language. He was also charged with obtaining £2 from Percival Kinnimont on June 15. Accused, pleaded guilty on all counts. According to Chief-Detective Hammond, Leach had been spoken to in Federal Street by Detective O’Sullivan regarding the fraud charge. The language had then been used and, assisted by two friends, Leach had got away. The chief-detective applied for a remand on the fraud charge until Thursday. “His name is not Leach at all,” he commented. The man was fined ss, in defautl 24 hours, on the drunkenness charge and £2, in default seven days’ imprisonment, on the major count.
