BAY OF PLENTY PROGRESS (Front Our Own Correspondent) , . OPOTIKI, Today. >\ onderful strides have been made by the Bay of Plenty Power Board since power was turned on on July 9 last year. At that time only a fifth of the number of consumers now in the board’s area were connected. The whole of the area is now reticulated and it will now be possible to discuss the que=cl °r£r, of f xtendi ng lines to new districts The board now has over 900 conthe total guarantee being over A Dominion record is claimed bv the engineers, who state that in Opotiki County there is already one elecrange installed to every two dwellings using electricity. The figures in Opotiki Borough are 1 in 4 and in Whakatane County 1 in 2.2. The total number of ranges altogether is 326, and 340 milking-sheds have had motors installed. There is no doubt that when another year has passed there will be an increase on the above figures. One of the main questions to be discussed this 3 ear \\ ill be the suggested purchase of the vv hakatane Borough electrical supply, bringing Whakatane Borough into the Bay of Plenty board s district.
