A TOWER OF WATER

STRANGE DISTURBANCE IN TASMAN SUBMARINE UPHEAVAL , (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) Reed. 10 a.m. SYDNEY, Today. When midway between Cape Mavia Van Diemen and Sydney, the steamer Aelybryn passed close to two submarine upheavals. Captain Stevenson said that last Sunday, without warning, a great surge of water rose out of the sea and gradually assumed a convex formation, which reached a height of about 30ft before settling again. He estimated that the width of the water was between 15 and 20ft. A quarter of an hour later a second upheaval occurred in the same position. No sensation was felt aboard the - ship. Captain Stevenson said there must have been a terrific upheaval at the bottom of the sea.
