ASSESSMENT COURT

SITTING AT MATAMATA (From Our Own Correspondent) MATAMATA, Today. The Assessment Court sat at Matamata on Tuesday, when numerous objections were heard. Mr. J. G. L. Hewitt, S.M., presided, and associated with him were Messrs. J. W. Simpson and C. G. Potts, ratepayers’ and Government assessors, respectively. Messrs. W. A. Gordon and W. F. Wallis represented the Valuation Department. In the Matamata Riding - three reductions were granted—three in the Town Board district, three in Okoroire Riding, one in Karapero Riding, and on© in Tirau Riding. "A number of valuations were sustained: A number of Tokoroa settlers contended that the unimproved of their sections, counsel on their behalf submitting that as they could not get State loans, there could be no unimproved value. \ The question was discussed at length.
