TENTATIVE ITINERARY APPROVED BIG DEMAND FOR ACCOM. MODATION The next Chamber of Commerce train will go on tour from November 15 to November 24. TENTATIVE itinerary has be*„ drawn up and approved by the con mittee of the Auckland Chamber This includes two days touring the Hauraki Plains, and the remainder ot i the time in the North. This year the total berths available j on the train have been reduced from 80 to 60 or 67, including all officials. As on the previous tour, the train will be fitted with shower-baths and j other facilities, but there will not be any telephone. This proved to be an j expensive item lasts year, so for the I coming tour it has been decided to j open the offices of the various towns | at which the train stays for the night. During the tour the travellers will spend two nights away from the train ! —one at Dargaville, and the other at l Kaitaia. Part of the two days to be spent | on the Hauraki Plains will be occuI pied in inspecting the route of the proposed Pokeno-Paeroa railway, s„ that city men will have an opportunity of seeing the country through which the line will run. Another day will be spent tourins the district immediately south of Dargaville, on the west side of the river. Last year the members ot the chamber who went on the tour did not see anything of this country. A day will also be spent visiting the Waipoua Kauri Forest, and then the party will go on to Kaikohe, where another day will be spent. The next town to be visited will be Kaitaia. which will be reached via the Victoria Valley, and the next day will be spent in travelling to Kawakaw* via the Whangaroa Harbour and Kerikeri. The final day of the tour will be spent in and around Whangarei, with possibly a visit to Waipa, one of the oldest settlements in New Zealand. There has already been a big demand for accommodation on the train, and among those who have signified their intention of making the trip are —Messrs. H. T. Blakey, John Bouskill. W. A. \ Boucher, R. C. M. Laird, W. M. Passmore, R. Angus, W. R. Fee, Harvey Turner, Andrew M. Paterson, Clem. | Bartley, J. Yock, W. McArthur, Bert Marshal, Alexander Eccles. A. J. Hut- | chinson. E. R. Davis, John W. Andrew. A. C. Norden. F. A. Hellaby, O. J. Thedens (representative for the Ausi trian Government), and the Hon. E. W. Alison. A number of Government officials, including representatives of the railway, Agricultural, forestry, and other departments, will make the tour.
