COUNCIL CRITICISED

AUCKLAND AND STATE SUBSIDY OFFER DUTY TO UNEMPLOYED (THE SUN’S Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. Criticism of the Auckland City Council for not having accepted the Government offer of £25,000 for expenditure on relief works was voiced by Mr. H. R. Jenkins (Parnell) in the House of Representatives this afternoon. The Auckland City Council, he said, was not doing its duty by the unemployed and should accept the Government offer. He would be sorry for Auckland if it did not accept. A Voice: Perhaps Auckland is sorry for you. Mr. Jenkins: No doubt it is.
