An inspector of the Audit Department gave evidence of discovering irregularities, and said it was by reason of accused's forgeries that they were not discovered earlier. To counsel witness said there had been no audit of these particular bocks for four years until 1928. Gillespie pleaded guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
