COMMUNITY SING

OVER £43 FOR RELIEF FUND A new record in collection at community sings in Auckland was established in the Town Hall today, when £43 13s was contributed by the public toward the Mayor’s earthquake relief fund. The big attraction for the gathering, which whiled away the lunch-hour in singing popular songs, were the Kentucky Jubilee Singers, who by kind permission of Messrs. J. and X. Tait. of His Majesty’s Theatre, contributed six songs, which were much appreciated by the crowd. A large crowd, over which Mr. C. Grey Campbell presided, participated in the singing, which was led by Mr. Guthrie. The accompaniments were capably played by Mrs. Barrington - Snow. For half an hour until the community singing commenced, Messrs. Lewis Eady, Ltd., entertaiped the gathering with a gramophone recital of plantation and other popular melodies on the Majestic electric machine.
