PROGRESS OF ROTARY

MEMBERSHIP INCREASES OFFICERS FOR NEW YEAR The annual report presented at a meeting of the Auckland Rotary Club last evening stated that the membership was now 146, an increase of 16 over the previous year. In retiring from the presidency, Mr. George Hutchison thanked officers and members for their support during his turn of office and then invited the president elect, Mr. S. Reid, to take the chair. Outlining his programme for the year Mr. Reid urged upon members their responsibility to assist and further the aims of Rotary. Not only should members help those activities started or supported by the club, but they should put the ideals of Rotary into practice by helping all worthy community services or activities. Officers for the year are as follow: Vice-president, Mr. S. J. Harbutt; directors, Mr. R. Angus, Mr. F. A. Hellaby, Mr. A. G. Poison, Mr. T. U. Wells and Mr. Geo. Hutchison; hon. secretary, Mr. J. A. Gentles; hon. treasurer, Mr. J. P. O’Connor; hon. auditor, Mr. J. M. Elliffe; publicity officer, Mr. J. F. Slianiy. New committees were also appointed. The report and treasurer’s statement were adopted.
