Burglars Make a Haul at Taupo
DOOR SAWN OFF SAFE STOREKEEPER LOSES £IOO (Special to THE SUN ) TAUPO, Monday. Burglars paid a visit to the premises of W. G. Thorp and Co., storekeepers, during the week-end and stole money and goods valued at £IOO. When the shop was opened this morning it was found that £SO in cash had been taken, also a quantity o£ tobacco and clothing. Entrance was gained by removing a piece of glass from a back window. A hack saw was used to cut the hinges of the safe door, which was then opened and notes and silver taken. Cheques and postal notes were not removed.
BURGLARY AT AWANUI
POLICE MAKE ARREST (From Our Otcn Correspondent) KAITAIA, Today. The Northern Steamship Company's ft nd Frankham’s cargo sheds respectively at Awanui were broken and entered by an intruder. Various articles, the private property of the Northern Company's agents, were taken, while the only thing carried away from Frankham’s was a tin-opener. In the latter place the intruder was disturbed while in the building. Entry to the Northern Company’s shed was made through the office window, while entrance to Frankham’s was effected through a door which was considerably damaged.
An arrest has been made by the police.
