ENJOYABLE EVENING

BIRTHDAY SURPRISE PARTY GIVEN FOR MRS. W. EVERITT On Saturday evening a jolly surprise party was taken to the home of Mrs. \V. Everitt, Greenfield Road, Epsom, when from 30 to 40 of her friends entertained her on the occasion of her birthday. The evening passed very pleasantly with musical items, humorous sketches, interspersed with novel competitions. Mrs. Everitt wore a flame georgette gojvn with lace trimming. Among those present were: Mrs. Davis, wearing eau de nil crepe de chine. Mrs. Baker, in black taffeta and chiffon. Mrs. W. Woodroffe, who wore green silk bengaline with scarf to tone. Mrs. Shilling, in pale green crepe faille. Mrs. Farrelly, wearing black georgette with blush pink. Mrs. Boesen, who wore saxe blue chiffon velvet. Mrs. Dale, in a black satin frock with chiffon shawl. Mrs. Nola, wearing electric blue crepe be chine. Miss D. Hislop, in a black and gold cobweb lace frock. Miss N. Boesen, who had chosen delphinium blue crepe de chine. Miss Penman, in a frock of pale blue georgette. Miss Henderson, who was in a black frock with pale pink wrap. Miss E. Boesen, wearing hyacinth blue crepe de chine. Miss Stewart, who wore a violet marocain gown. Miss A. Penman, in chartreuse green taffeta and georgette. OTAHUHU BRANCH OF W.C.T.U. There was a large attendance of members and friends of the Otahuhu branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union at the monthly meeting, held in the Methodist School Hall on Thursday afternoon. The president, Mrs. F. Greenwood, presided. Major Gordon delivered a very interesting and instructive address on “Keepers At Home,” and “Keepers of Their Homes,” illustrating where the women of today fail in tlieir duty toward home life.
