TRAMWAY STOPS
i LONG AND SHORT SECTIONS ADDITIONAL SHELTER-SHEDS ■ “There should be a thorough revision of the length of the sections first —some of the sections are so long and some so short that there is a lot of public dissatisfaction.” Mr. M. J. Coyle thus expressed his opposition to building more tramways’ shelter-sheds in the suburban areas, as suggested in the manager’s report to the Transport Board today, until the sections were arranged more uniformly. Twenty-two additional shelters, costing approximately £1,725, were proposed, but the manager pointed out that no money was available for the work. It was unusual, stated Mr. Ford, for the tramway undertaking generally to erect shelter-sheds at all stop-ping-places. He, however, recommended, in view of the traffic and remoteness of the points from sheds of any kind, that shelters should be erected at Mountain Road in Khyber Pass, between Edendale and Esplanade Road, Mount Eden, on the EpsomOnehunga route, and between Coombes Road and Walton Street on the Victoria Avenue route. The cost would be £4lO. "The question is being asked, ‘why should I pay 2d for this small distance when in cfher parts, better favoured, the distance is mu6h longer,’ ” Mr. Coyle declarecL The report was received, and was referred to the board in committee for consideration.
