NATIONALISTS INAUGURATE SCHEME SHANGHAI TO NANKING < Australian ana N.Z. Presto Association) Reed. 9.5 a.m. SHANGHAI, Monday. China’s first air-mail line became an actuality this afternoon, when a flight by Captain Henderson, a former Royal Air Force flyer, from Shanghai to Nanking, was successfully carried out. Using a five-passenger StinsonDetroiter machine. Captain Henderson took off at noon on the inaugural flight with 4001 bof mail. He reached Nanking shortly before two o’clock, returning in the evening with mail. Four well-known British and Ameri(an aviators are here awaiting the Nanking Government’s orders to commence regular operations. With the establishment of the airma il, the first of the Nationalists* frauy high-sounding schemes has become a reality. It marks an important chapter in China’s history.
