Dr . w. H. Pettit has returned to Auckland after a visit to Nelson. Dr. £*■ Cr. Trail returned by the Tofua last evening after a visit to Samoa. Mrs. I. I>. Bryce, of Parnell, has been appointed secretary to the Society for ilia Protection of Women and Children. The Rev. R. B. Davidson was last Sunday inducted to the charge of St. George's Anglican parish, Thames, by Archdeacon Simkin. Mr. A. B. Ross, formerly A.D.C. to fhe Administrator of the Mandated Territory of Western Samoa, returned by the Tofua last evening. Mr. G. C. Munns, Mr. H. M. Rijshworth* Mj*. M. J. Savage, and Mr. W. g Parry. M.P.’s. left last evening by the Limited express for Wellington. Mr. B. C. Robbins, Mayor of Tauranga, will represent the Tauranga Chamber of Commerce at the provincial conference of chambers of commerce in Auckland this week. Mr. G. E. Cartwright, manager of the National Bank, has been promoted to the managership of rh® New Plymouth branch. He will be succeeded by Mr. K. Bell, of New Plymouth. Mr. T. A. Blake, veterinary surgeon for the Agricultural Department in Auckland, has been appointed to replace Mr. C. V. Dayus at Hamilton. Mr. Dayus has been transferred to Dunedin. Mr. A. E. Ford, manager of the Auckland Transport Board under taking., intends leaving by the Niagara next week for a six weeks’ holiday in Australia. He will visit Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. Mr. John Phillips, general sales manager for Chipraan’s, Australasia, Ltd., will return to New Zealand by the Niagara on July 15. For the last 12 months rie has been touring through Panada.
