THE CHURCHES
Sir, — Now that the churches have at last awakened to their responsibility it will k® iHterestingf to note how far they will throw off their general apathy and show their courage. Will they follow the Prince of Peace and help to wipe out the stain of fanaticism and bloodshed that is spread over our history? Here is a unique chance to prove that the churches are moving with the times. The Roman Catholic Church in Europe, led by the Pope, is doing incalculable good in this direction. Children are being taught to regard children of other races as their friends. New Zealand must be the only country in the world where children have to undergo military training. The people have the right to alter the laws and it is a pity that their indifference continues as it does B. KING.
