THIEVES IN PONSONBY

GROCER’S STORE RAIDED CASH TAKEN FROM THE TILL Some time on Friday night Mr. W. N. Munro’s grocery store in Jervois Road, Ponsonby, was broken into by thieves. Evidently they were in search of the day’s takings, which, on a Friday, are always heavy. However, the money had been securely locked in a safe by Mr. Munro. The till and various other boxes in the store were searched and the thieves made off with between £2 and £3 in cash. Apparently cash was their only object as they do not seem to have taken any groceries with' them. Entrance was gained through a door in the back of the shop.
