ST. MARY’S COLLEGE

RAIN POSTPONES OPENING CEREMONY The heavy rain yesterday caused the postponement of the opening of St. Mary’s College, the new building erected for the Sisters of Mercy «in New Street, Ponsonby. Bishop Cleary was to have opened the building in the afternoon and many people who had not heard of the postponement arrived to witness the ceremony. They were entertained at afternoon tea in the old school buildings. Although no definite arrangements have been made for the opening ceremony it is believed that it may be next Sunday afternoon. The new building marks another stage in the work of the Sisters of Mercy, members of the order having worked for more than 80 years in New Zealand.
