COWARDLY ATTACK ON WOMAN NINE MONTHS’ “HARD” “You seem to be an ordinary bully, and. vou must learn that the law will protect all women from robbery, irrespective of their moral charac--16 On these terms, Mr. Justice Kennedy in the Supreme Court today passed sentence of nine months hard labour on Percival Charles Y ates, foi robbery with violence on a woman at Hamilton. “PUSHED HER OVER” “We had a scuffle and all X did was to push her over. She bumped her head and became unconscious, declared Yates from the dock in explanation of his conduct. His Honour remarked that Yates had robbed the woman of her purse containing £1 13s 5d and some papers. He had received a small amount of money for his crime, in which he had used a considerable amount of violence. It was an unusual case, as Y'ates had not waylaid the woman. He had already received many previous warnings, coneluded his Honour, in passing sentence.
